Their relationship, however, was not without its challenges. The couple endured a long-distance relationship for eight years before finally deciding to marry. “After just one month of meeting, it was a long-distance relationship for eight long years and then we thought we should get married, so we did,” Smriti shared in a viral video. Their story is a testament to the power of love and resilience, enduring the trials of distance and time.

A Heroic Sacrifice

In July 2023, Captain Anshuman Singh’s life was tragically cut short in a fire accident at an Indian Army ammunition dump in Siachen. His heroic actions during the incident saved many lives, but ultimately cost him his own. For his extraordinary bravery, he was awarded the Kirti Chakra, India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award. Smriti Singh and Captain Singh’s mother, Manju Singh, received the award on his behalf, honoring his memory and his sacrifice.

President Droupadi Murmu, while presenting the award, highlighted the courage and dedication of Captain Singh. His actions that day in Siachen not only reflect his commitment to his duty but also his selflessness and valor.
