Hisar to Host India’s First Private Trainer Aircraft Manufacturing Facility
Sakthi Group and Diamond Aircraft Partner to Boost India’s Aviation Sector
In a landmark development for India’s aviation industry, Sakthi Group has partnered with Austria’s Diamond Aircraft Industries to establish the country’s first private-sector trainer aircraft manufacturing facility in Hisar, Haryana. The facility is expected to be operational by the end of 2025, providing much-needed support to India’s growing flight training sector.
Addressing the Rising Demand for Pilot Training in India
India’s aviation sector is expanding rapidly, with an increasing demand for trained pilots. To meet this demand, Sakthi Aircraft Industry—a joint venture between Sakthi Group and Diamond Aircraft—has signed an agreement with the Aero Club of India to supply 200 DA40 NG trainer aircraft to flight training organizations (FTOs) across the country.
The first 50 aircraft will be imported as complete knocked-down (CKD) kits from Diamond Aircraft’s Austria and Canada facilities for assembly in India. The remaining 150 aircraft will be manufactured at the Hisar-based final assembly line (FAL).
Hisar Aerodrome: The Emerging Aviation Hub of India
Hisar Aerodrome has been chosen for the facility due to its strategic location and growing aviation infrastructure. The plant aims to manufacture up to 100 trainer aircraft annually, significantly reducing India’s reliance on imported planes and supporting the government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
Economic Benefits and Job Creation
The new trainer aircraft manufacturing facility is expected to create significant employment opportunities in engineering, aircraft assembly, logistics, and supply chain management. This development is also likely to attract further investment in the aviation sector, positioning Hisar as a key player in India’s aerospace industry.
The establishment of India’s first private trainer aircraft manufacturing facility in Hisar is a game-changer for the country’s aviation sector. Led by Sakthi Group and Diamond Aircraft, this initiative will enhance flight training capabilities, boost domestic aircraft manufacturing, and contribute to economic growth. With operations set to begin by 2025, India is well on its way to becoming a leader in trainer aircraft production.
