he recent decision by the Karnataka government to increase the state sales tax has led to a significant rise in fuel prices. This move, enacted by the Congress-led administration, has raised the cost of petrol by Rs 3, bringing it to Rs 102.86 per litre, and diesel to Rs 88.94 per litre. The increase in sales tax from 25.92% to 29.84% for petrol and from 14.34% to 18.44% for diesel was put into immediate effect following a government order issued on Saturday.
